Carthage-Joplin Regional Stockyards: Cow and Bull Auction 8/07/13

Thursday, August 8, 2013

Receipts: 435 Last Week: 601 Last Year: 1361

Compared to last Wednesday, the bulk of slaughter cows sold steady to 1.00
higher with a few high-dressing cows 2.00-3.00 higher and slaughter bulls
sold steady to 1.00 higher. The offering included a light supply of bred cows,
with most in the 3rd stage, and only a few scattered cow/calf pairs. Most of
the area has had some rain nearly every day making lot and field conditions
to wet and muddy to get cattle moved to market, quite a contrast to the
conditions of one year ago. Supply was light and demand good for slaughter
classes.
