Recent crashes results in injuries
A resident of France received moderate injuries in a single vehicle crash at 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4 on I-44 a half mile west of Mt. Vernon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Roberto Airoldi, 63, was driving west on the interstate on a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he struck a piece of tire debris. The debris was caught in the vehicle causing the driver to lose control, run off the left side of the roadway and struck the median cable.
Airoldi, who was wearing safety features, received moderate injuries and was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for treatment.

Two Mt. Vernon residents received minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 2 p.m. on Aug. 3, on Highway 174 at Chesapeake.
According the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Charles Johnson, 59, was traveling east in a 1998 Chevrolet box truck when he stopped to make a right turn into a private drive. A 2000 Chevrolet 1500 pickup, driven by Eldon Wiehe, 41, of Mt. Vernon, struck the Johnson vehicle in the rear, and began to skid causing the pick up to run off the right side of the road and struck a tree.
Wiehe was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for treatment and Heather Brown, 16; a passenger in the Wiehe vehicle sought her own treatment. Wiehe and Brown were not wearing seat belts. Johnson was wearing a seat belt.
