Purdy woman hurt in area crash

A Purdy woman was injured in a two-vehicle crash that took place at 5:20 p.m. on Sunday at Commercial Street and Business Highway 37 in Purdy.

The crash occurred when the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu, Maria J. Felipe, 20, of Purdy, crossed the center line while making a left turn and struck a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse, driven by Emily N. Berry, 24, of Fairway, head on.

Felipe was taken by private vehicle to Cox Monett Hospital with minor injuries. She was wearing a seat belt. Berry was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Joplin with minor injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt.

Other crashes

* A Verona man was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 8:19 p.m. on Sunday. The crash occurred on Highway 60 about two miles west of Monett when the driver of a 1996 Ford F150, Ronald D. Garner, 66, exited from a private driveway and drove into the path of a 2010 Mazda 3, driven by Rachelle J. Weatherly, 21, of Monett. Garner was taken to Freeman Hospital in Joplin with moderate injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt; Weatherly was.

* Jennifer L. Piccerillo, 39, of Jefferson, Md., was injured when she attempted to make a sharp turn in a 2007 Suzuki Quadrunner and the vehicle overturned. The wreck took place at 5:10 p.m. on Sunday on private property about one mile west of McDowell. Piccerillo was taken to Cox Hospital South in Springfield with moderate injuries.
