Margie Marie Courtney, age 86, of Monett, Missouri, passed away in her home on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010. She was born on August 21, 1924, in Beckville, Texas, the fourth child and only daughter of Frank and Dorthy (Parker) Courtney.
Margie met and married Charles Louis Scott in 1943, in Carthage, Texas, while he was in the Army. They made their home in California.
Margie moved to Monett in 2008, to live near her son and daughter-in-law. She attended the First Baptist Church of Monett.
Margie had a passion for roses and had the most beautiful rose beds. She loved tending to her flowers and garden. Margie was also a skilled cake decorator. She was an activities director for an assisted living home in California for many years. Margie loved being surrounded by her "grands" and "great grands," playing dress-up, making banana pudding and princess pancakes for them. She grew an orange tree in California, which will be talked about in the family for many years to come. The oranges were straight from heaven.
Margie was met at heaven's gate by her parents, Frank and Dorthy Courtney, her brothers, Odie and Rusty, her son, David Lane Scott and her granddaughters, Tina and Jeannie Scott.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Chuck and Lynn Scott, of Purdy, Missouri; her daughter and son-in-law: Margo and David Bjork of Bakersfield, California; her brother: Mitchell Courtney of Tatum, Texas; grandchildren: Jim, Laura, Jeremy, Adonna, Shannon, Kacey and David Lloyd; great-grandchildren: Kalaup, Christopher, Erika, Melissa, Brandon, Kelsea, Leif, Randi, Matthew, Lane and Joie; great-great grandchildren: Hailey, James, Liliana and many nieces and nephews.
