Area students earn spot on UCM Dean’s List

Cale Mackinley Miller and Natalie Shea Bekemeier, both of Mt. Vernon, were named to the University of Central Missouri Spring 2021 Dean’s List. Each semester, the Dean's List is divided into two parts. The first list includes the names of students who have achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average (GPA), and the second list includes the names of students who attained a grade point average of 3.50 to 3.99. Miller achieved a 4.0 GPA and Bekemeier achieved a GPA of 3.5 to 3.99.

Missouri S&T announces honor list

Missouri University of Science and Technology recently announced the names of students who made the honor list for the Spring 2021 semester, including six from Monett. They are: Naman Desai, a senior majoring in aerospace engineering; Matthew Hall, a freshman majoring in engineering; Jonathan Hughes, a sophomore majoring in nuclear engineering; Blake Pachner, a sophomore majoring in engineering; John Rausch, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering; and Mike Tsai, a sophomore majoring in civil engineering. To be included on the honor list, students must have carried a minimum of 12 hours and had grade point averages of 3.2 or above out of a possible 4.0.

Welch earns degree from Missouri S&T

Eric Welch, of Monett, recently received a bachelor of science degree in computer engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology during commencement ceremonies held at the campus in May. Missouri S&T has traditionally recognized graduates earning a bachelor's degree with honors by placing the designation “summa cum laude,” “magna cum laude” or “cum laude” on their diplomas. The highest honor, summa cum laude, is awarded to students who have earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.8 or above on a 4.0 scale for all courses counting toward the degree. Magna cum laude is the designation for a GPA of 3.5 to 3.79, and cum laude indicates a GPA of 3.2-3.49. Welch graduated magna cum laude.

Meyer graduates from University of Dubuque

Ian Meyer, of Monett, graduated cum laude from the University of Dubuque in Iowa. Commencement was held Saturday, May 1 in the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center. Meyer earned a Bachelor of Science degree.
