Bernice Branum, 87, of Monett, Mo., passed from this life on Sunday evening, February 14, 2021 while at Lacoba Homes following a lengthy illness.
Bernice was born on October 8, 1933, in Buffalo, Mo., daughter of the late Bertrum Iverson Richerson and Pansy Beulah (Gaunt) Richerson. She graduated from Buffalo High School. For many years, Bernice worked for the International Institute of Learning as well as for Aggieville in Monett. Bernice was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monett. She enjoyed doing yard work, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.
On March 25, 1952, Bernice married William Ray “Bill” Branum. To this union, three children were born. They were blessed with over sixty-three years together until Bill’s passing on August 4, 2015.
Bernice is survived by two sons, Ron Branum and Randy Branum and wife Vikki; one daughter, Debbie Creed and husband Ron, all of Monett; six grandchildren; Jeffrey Creed and wife Lacy, Bekka Matthews and husband Jackson, Kevin Creed and wife Leanna, Jamin Branum, Susana Branum-Smith and husband Todd, Josh Branum and Melissa Branum-Clevenger; thirteen great-grandchildren, Zoey, J.J., Noah and Abel Branum, Grayson, Camden, Madalynn, Paxton and Kathryn Matthews, Drew, Noah, Boston and Brinkley Creed; dear friend and caregiver, Fairy Essary; and a host of extended family and friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother, Cecil Richerson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2021, at Buchanan Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday. Reverend Robert Bradow will be officiating. Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Crosslines. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home.
