Local teams flood Washburn for annual tourney

The seventh annual Southwest Holiday Tournament is set to begin on Dec. 26 and runs through Dec. 30 at Southwest High School.

This year’s field features a mix of girls eight Missouri teams since Arkansas would not allow teams to cross state lines.

No. 1 Cassville and No. 8 Exeter open play on Dec. 26 at 4 p.m. to open the tournament, followed by No. 4 Billings and No. 7 Southwest. No. 4 Reeds Spring and No. 5 Marionville battle at 7 p.m., and No. 3 Wheaton and No. 6 East Newton tip off at 8:30 p.m.

On Dec. 29, the losers of the Cassville-Exeter and Reeds Spring-Marionville contest play at 4 p.m., with the winners playing at 7 p.m.

The Billings-Southwest and Wheaton-East Newton losers meet at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 29, and the winners play at 8:30 p.m.

All consolation games will be played in the middle school gym

The seventh-place game is slated for 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 30, with the fifth-place contest at 8:30 p.m. The third-place game is at 4 p.m., and the championship contest will tip at 7 p.m.

All winning teams, along with the third place and championships games, will be played at Southwest High School.
