Members of the Joplin Elk’s Lodge were at the Monett Alternative Education Academy on the campus of Monett High School on Friday morning to donate $2,500 to help students continue their academic goals. “These kids represent the future of our communities, and as such are the best possible place to invest,” said Susan Cook, Joplin Elk’s Lodge exalted ruler. The Academy focuses on helping students overcome challenges, a goal the Elk’s Lodge fully supports. Along with programs like the Alternative Education Academy, the Lodge provides millions of dollars of scholarship opportunities nationwide and seeks to work with school districts to help students reach their full potential to become valued members of the community.
