Betty J. (Stockton) Yancey, 92, of Monett, passed away on October 18, 2020, at Oak Pointe-Monett.
She was born on July 23, 1928, in Monett, the daughter of Charles and Sadie (Laney) Stockton. Betty lived her entire life in Monett. She graduated from Monett High School, Class of 1946, and attended Monett Junior College. She taught for many years in the rural area around Monett. Later, she was employed as a secretary for the Monett School District. She later worked at Modern Variety and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monett. Betty enjoyed sewing and quilting until her health declined.
On March 18, 1949, in Eureka Springs, Ark., Betty Stockton married Raymond Yancey.
Betty is survived by one daughter, Deborah Davis and husband Stephen of Springfield, Mo.; one grandson Austin Davis of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Pat Jackson of Monett, Mo., and Charlene McNutt of Marionville, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of forty-three years, Raymond Yancey.
Private family graveside services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020, at Oakdale Cemetery with Pastor Brian Schoffstall officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Parkinson's Association.
Arrangements were under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, Mo.
