Devon Scott apprehended without incident

A local man charged with multiple felonies, Devon James Scott, 24, of Monett, was apprehended at 12:08 p.m. on Thursday, based off of information received by a Crime Stoppers tip.

Law enforcement officials were seeking the whereabouts of Scott, who was wanted on multiple warrants in Monett and Barry County. One warrant stems from the theft of items from multiple vehicles during the overnight hours of Aug. 22. Items allegedly stolen included a woman’s purse, cash, and credit/debit cards.

“We received a tip and officers dispatched to an area in the 300 block of Third Street, where Scott was reported being seen,” said Lt. Dennis Camp, with the Monett Police Department. “Officers recovered a backpack that reportedly had been seen in Scott’s possession and a few moments later, he was taken into custody without incident by Officers Christopher Miller, Kermit Howell and Marvin McCracken.”

Scott has been charged with eight counts of felony stealing from incidents occurring within the city limits of Monett. In May of this year, he was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.

In November of 2019, he was charged with felony stealing in Monett and released on bond.
