Monett Booster Clubs seeking volunteers

The Monett Booster Club has found itself in an unusual pinch this season seeking volunteers to run its football concession stands.

The group routinely has counted on area businesses to staff the events with labor.

However, this year is proving to be the exception, as nearly every group that has volunteered in the past has now backed out for this season.

“Right now, our pool of volunteers has dried up, and we have no groups to staff the events,” said Scott Leach, Monett Booster Club President. “For Friday’s jamboree, the booster board will be running the stand, but that means some parents may not get to see their child play.”

The booster club is the chief fundraising arm for all of Monett’s athletic programs and has have taken extra precautions this season to make the stands a safe environment amid the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

“We have worked diligently to come up with processes and procedures to keep workers and customers safe,” Leach said. “The volunteers will be wearing masks and gloves, and we will be social distancing in the concession stand. We will be social distancing as much as possible. No one that handles money or credit cards will be handling the food.”
