Winners from Joplin, Marionville Districts

The Southwest Center has announced Allison Pittman, of Joplin School District, and Amy Redus, Marionville R-IX School District, as winners of the Southwest Missouri Elementary and Secondary Missouriís Regional Teachers of the Year.

Seven District Teacher of the Year nominees opted to apply for the Regional Teacher of the Year competition. A committee composed of area district educators and community members completed the rigorous selection process and selected two winners. The winners will represent the Southwest Missouri region in the statewide competition for the 2020-2021 Missouri Teacher of the Year.

District Teacher of the Year participants in the regional competition were: Suzanne Cavner, Monett R-I; Melissa Dawn Wade, Crane R-III; Shannon Schultz, Carl Junction R-1; Tom Burns, Bronaugh R-VII; Allison Pittman, Joplin School District; Amy Redus, Marionville R-IX; and Jessica Pike, McDonald County R-I.

The Southwest Center for Educational Excellence (SWC) is an educational service agency serving 42 school districts, two universities, and one junior college. The 42 school districts educate over 55,000 students and employ over 7,000 employees. The goal of SWC is to provide high-quality, on-going and relevant professional development.
