First on Front organizers hoping for 2021 season
Popular Friday night event a wash the past two years
Organizers of First on Front, the popular summer concert series sponsored by First State Bank of Purdy in Monett, are hoping to be able to host a 2021 season.
“It rained every night of our event in 2019,” said Amanda Lee, one of the event organizers. “Then, COVID-19 wiped out our 2020 season. But, we are hoping to be able to return in 2021, once it is safe for everyone to gather again.”
First on Front took place the first Friday of May, June and July at the Glen and Sharon Garrett Downtown Park on Front Street between Fourth and Fifth streets. The main stage is located beneath the 8,000-square-foot covered Jerry D. Hall Memorial Pavilion. The free, family-friendly event featured local bands performing a mix of all genres of music, starting at 5 p.m. and continuing until 10 p.m.
“It’s a community celebration that spotlights local business and talent, and the importance of shopping local, eating local, listening local, and banking local,” Lee said.
Past performers included the Lucas Gates Band, Laura Ashley, the Mark Chapman Band, Rocked ’n Loaded, Better than Nothin’, Porter Union, Screendoor Serenade, The Black Moods, The Playboyz, Pretty Lonesome, Dawson Hollow, the Dirty Saints, Hunter Hathcoat and Makenna and Brock.
Food truck concessions were also on hand, as well as an enclosed beer garden for adult beverages.
“We are holding tight right now,” Lee said. “We love the event and we love the community, and we want to host the summer concert event series again, once it is safe for everyone to attend. We will be back, if it’s safe, in 2021.”
