Cubs seeking pitch fever

Monett soccer releases fall schedule

Temperatures outside are beginning to soar, as the dog days of summer have arrived, but some in the community, the focus is squarely upon the fall.

More specifically, the fall sports season is the focus for the Monett soccer team.

The Cubs have become the perennial district champion darlings, and they wish that trend to continue this season.

While time will tell if the teamís talent will carry them to another title, the path that leads to the district playoffs is now firmly set.

Monett opens the season with a pair of road games, first at Parkview on Sept. 1, and then at Webb City on Sept. 3.

The home opener for the Cubs is slated for Sept. 7 with Carl Junction, and then Carl Junction comes calling on Sept. 15.

A trip to Joplin on Sept. 17 awaits, followed by trio of home bouts with Marshfield, Sept. 21; Central, Sept. 22; and the the rivalry battle with Springfield Catholic on Sept. 24.

October arrives with a skirmish at Republic on Oct. 1, then a home match with Willard on Oct. 5.

Three straight road games then face the Cubs with Logan-Rogersville, Oct. 6; Aurora, Oct. 13; and Carthage, Oct. 15.

After a patch on the road, Monett returns for some home cooking with Ozark on Oct. 16; Bolivar on Oct. 19; and Branson on Oct. 22.

A road trip to Cassville on Oct. 22 leads to with a home match on Oct. 29 to conclude the regular season.
