Scott Tech JROTC Raiders team at national contest
First appearance at competition hikes challenges
On Nov. 1, the Army JROTC programís Raider Team from the Scott Regional Technology Center competed at the All-Services Raider Nationals competition in Thomaston, Ga.
The Raider Nationals event pitted Scott Tech against Raider teams from across the United States from Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps JROTC programs. The event consisted of a 5 kilometer race, rope bridge construction, and two separate obstacle courses.
"We did good but there is always room for improvement," said Hailee Wilkinson, one of the Raider team seniors. "We had a strong group of seniors, but we also have a strong group of juniors who now know what Raider Nationals is like. They will be even better next year."
Lt. Col. Brennan Cook, the teamís coach, said, ďIím proud of these Raiders. We have only had a team for two years, so to compete at that level against teams that have been doing Raider competitions for years speaks volumes about the motivation of these cadets. We did well, but we have much room to improve in the spring competitions.Ē
