Carol Gripka: Retiring post office employee thanks customers
As of Aug. 30, I will be retiring from the Monett Post Office. It has been my pleasure to serve my C-1 customers and all the people of Monett for the past 19 1/2 years.
It has been a most rewarding career. I thank my customers for trusting me and sharing your lives with me. I have seen kids grow from 2 to 21. I have fond memories of my friends who are no longer with us, except in spirit. I have shared your happiness and your sorrows.
I thank God for sending me in this direction. I thank my family for supporting me and listening to me. Mike Williams took a chance and hired me, and I am so grateful. Tom Smith helped train me to be a conscientious, reliable carrier. Dr. Batson has kept me on my feet, literally. I canít thank her enough. Curves and Mia have helped keep me in shape to continue working as long as I have.
I thank all of you for the countless acts of kindness you have shown me ó a bottle of water, a cup of coffee, a shoveled walk, a Christmas card, a special treat, or just an encouraging word to brighten my day. They were all appreciated.
You are all special to me and I will miss and cherish our friendships.
