Performances today, Sunday at MHS Performing Arts Center

The Mt. Vernon Community Theatre will bring its summer musical, "Crazy for You: The New Gershwin Musical" to the Monett High School Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. today and at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Classic Gershwin songs in the show include “I Got Rhythm,” “They Can’t Take That Away from Me,” “Someone to Watch Over Me” and “Nice Work if You Can Get It.”

Playwright Ken Ludwig has crafted a comedy and filled it chock full of the Gershwins’ greatest hits to make "Crazy for You." The play also has showgirls, gunfights, real historical figures and humor out of the Old West.

“This show will appeal to so many people,” said director Kaden Propps. “'Crazy for You' brings music from George and Ira Gershwin to the stage that many people have grown up listening to and puts it into a fun-filled show. The story will keep you laughing the entire time!”

Tickets are available at the door.
