Lions preparing for July 4 event

Saturday, June 29, 2019
With all sights and sounds in Monett pointing to the rapidly approaching Fourth of July celebration, local Lions have broken out their “Big Book of Barbecue” in preparation for their annual Chicken Barbecue. Lion Co-Chairs Jackie Langley, standing, and Kathy Fertig, seated, are working to ensure area residents and visitors that this year’s Fourth of July event scheduled for Monett South Park will live up to its historic reputation of excellence. The tasty meal will consist of one-half chicken, baked beans, chips, and beverage and starts at 11:00 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m. or when all 1,500 chicken halves are gone. Tickets are available from Monett Lions and at Bruner Pharmacy and local banks. Price for advance tickets is $7 and tickets purchased at the door will be $8. Lions Langley and Fertig invite all residents and visitors to join Monett Lions for the Barbecue and then to settle in for a great afternoon and evening of festivities in the park. Contributed photo
