YMCA names new executive directors in Barry County
Dove Haney to continue as new head at Monett facility
New executive directors for both the Monett Area YMCA and the Cassville YMCA have been announced by Kathryn Custer, chief executive officer of the Ozarks Regional YMCA in Springfield.
Dove Haney, tapped as interim director in Monett in January after longtime director Gordon Brown was dismissed, will stay on as the new executive director.
Haney served as executive director of the Cassville YMCA for the past 10 years. She led the Aquatics cabinet and been heavily involved in her local community.
“Dove has proven her leadership through successful operation of the Cassville Y,” said Custer. “Through a thorough interview and selection process, Dove stood out as a cause-driven leader with the experience and drive to make a positive impact in the Monett community.”
Haney began her new duties immediately. She has undertaken some reorganizational changes at the Y, including naming a new day-to-day director of the outdoor aquatic center, which opens today, a move the frees up former aquatic director Charles LaGarce to concentrate on swim lessons and leading the Y’s team swim program.
Taking Haney’s place Cassville Family YMCA will be Rick Ragsdale, who has served the Cassville Y for the last six years as a program director.
“Rick is also very involved in the leadership of his local community,” said Custer. “Rick is an example of a cause driven leader with values and enthusiasm that model the Y mission.
“I am excited for Rick and Dove to continue to move our organization forward in their communities,” Custer added.
The Ozarks Regional YMCA has served the community for more than 130 years and has more than 25,000 members in the association and hopes to engage more people in the communities it serves.
