Aurora school board accepts resignations
Speech pathologist, elementary school teachers hired
Members of the Aurora School Board recently accepted several resignations in personnel action.
Leaving the district are Devin Rice and Katie Parsons, both teachers at Pate Early Childhood Center; Lacey Medlin, a paraprofessional at Pate; Karen Bader, a counselor at Pate; Leah Treadwell, a teacher at the intermediate school; Mae Ruddock, an intermediate school paraprofessional; Johanna Wood and Ryan Westmoreland, both teachers at Aurora Junior High School; Tara Ackerman, junior high school cheerleading coach; Holly Harmon, a teacher at Aurora High School; and Mona Thach and Rosalyn Beall, both speech and language pathologists.
Board members approved hiring Jada Smith as a speech and language pathologist for the 2019-2020 academic year; Megan Williams as a first grade teacher and Hannah Roberts as a second grade teacher at Robinson Elementary; renewed contracts with all building level principals and the alternative school principal and transportation director for the next academic year; extended contracts for Dr. Lakin, special education director, David Mais, assistant superintendent, and Billy Redus, superintendent, for an additional year. The board also approved hiring Matt Gassaway, Pate Early Childhood Center assistant principal, and Scott Spooner, high school assistant principal and athletic director, for the 2019-2020 school year.
Summer school dates for the district have been sent. Classes will begin May 28 and continue through June 28.
