Two Monett students outstanding in forestry competition

Friday, March 15, 2019
Two members of the Monett FFA Chapter placed in the forestry contest, part of the annual Career Development Events, where students prepare for a variety of careers. Moo Shee, left, was eighth high individual and Sasha Mace, right, was the 18th high individual at the Pleasant Hope Forestry event. According to Jason Cutler, FFA sponsor, the forestry contest stimulates student interest in forestry and the principles and benefits of forest resource management. Students had to demonstrate a basic knowledge of forestry, identify common Missouri trees, recognize tools and equipment in forest management, inventory standing timber, interpret topographic maps and identify common tree or forest disorders in Missouri.
