Monett falls to Webb City, 64-37

It was not the ending the Monett basketball team had hoped for, falling 64-37 to Webb City on Wednesday in the Class 4, District 12 semifinal.

Monett entered the games on the heels of a 56-38 opening-round win over Cassville, its first district win since a 61-43 victory over Reeds Spring on Feb. 24, 2011.

On Wednesday, Monett struggled with the quickness and pressure of the Lady Cardinals.

Monett trailed 16-10 after one and 27-14 at intermission.

Webb City roared out of the halftime locker room and pushed the lead to 21 in the first two minutes and led 50-27 at the end of the third.

Scoring for Monett: Alyssa Williams, 12; Kaesha George, 10; Katie Schmidt, 8; Abby Patton, 6; and Kim Parris, 1.

The Lady Cubs finished the season 12-14.
