Behavior intervention, trauma informed schools receive spotlight

Monett R-1 school teachers returned after their Christmas break on Friday for professional development training.

At Monett Elementary, teachers focused on training in Guided Reading, Shared Reading, interactive read-alouds and Behavior Intervention Support Teams (BIST).

At Central Park Elementary, faculty engaged in team building activity, as well as team and grade level collaboration along with school safety training. Training focused on Trauma Informed Schools as well as BIST. The book study concentrated of Heather Forbes' critically acclaimed book, "Help for Billy."

At Monett Intermediate, teachers also concentrated on team building activity, Trauma Informed Schools and BIST, along with team and grade level collaboration. Vision of Learning was also a discussion focus at both the intermediate and middle school campuses. Middle school faculty focused on team building, systems of support and collaboration.

High school faculty concentrated on diverse learner instruction.

At the Scott Regional Technology Center, collaboration teams met and shared strategies. Teachers spent time preparing for the second semester.
