Dorcas Ladies Aid hosts regional conference
Southwest Zone LWML Fall Rally held in Freistatt
A total of 79 ladies and pastors attended the 49th annual Southwest Zone Lutheran Women's Missionary League Fall Rally was hosted by Dorcas Ladies Aid at Trinity Lutheran School on Nov. 3.
Societies from Aurora, Carthage, Freistatt, Joplin, Lockwood, Neosho, Purdy, Prairie City, Shell Knob and Stockton had representatives in attendance.
Morgan Mills, communications director for Convoy of Hope in Springfield, presented the program. Convoy of Hope is a faith-based organization founded in 1994 that has served more than 100 million people to date. They partner with many companies, including Jack Henry and Associates, Thrivent Financial and Walmart for donations, etc. Ninety percent of their donations are used for disaster relief, meals for children in 11 countries and help farmers in seven countries grow better crops. In rural America they provide shoes, backpacks, food and health services.
A sizeable monetary donation for Convoy of Hope was given by the ladies.
Additional funds for mites and general fund were received. Societies of the Zone brought 146 quilts and blankets to be given to Pastor Gary Lampe, a former member of Trinity Lutheran at Freistatt, and now at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in St. Louis.
At noon Dorcas Ladies Aid with the help of Lutheran Youth Fellowship members served the meal. The afternoon was spent in tying fleece blankets and making prayer bracelets.
