Hospice Compassus volunteers honored for their service
Volunteers for community support still needed
Volunteers for Hospice Compassus were recently honored for their service to the clients of the organization with an appreciation breakfast at Angus Branch Restaurant in Monett. Debra Taylor and Brenda Smith chaired the event.
Several team members presented volunteers with certificates of service and gifts.
Compassus provides team support for those suffering illness in the community. Highly trained volunteers support the team as members of Angel Watch, chaplains, office support, or by visiting skilled care facilities and private homes.
The message delivered at the breakfast helped dispel the myth that Hospice and palliative care is for the dying. The team approach to healthcare for the sick often results in the patient getting stronger and better. Those who are critical are supported to the final stage.
Those with skills for supporting the sick and caretakers volunteer for two to three hours a month. Those interested in volunteering may call Brenda Smith, volunteer coordinator, at 417-235-9097 to attend the next training class scheduled for early December.
