Outreach finding success in quick response situations

Monett Lions gained an awareness of local student needs in areas that often fall outside the academic realm when Lacey Berry shared information about Monett Care to Learn during a recent club meeting.

Berry, a counselor at Central Park Elementary, also serves as liaison for the Monett Care to Learn program. The program is expanding its services rapidly to enable local students of all grade levels to have access to many areas of assistance that can positively affect their wellbeing and potential academic success. Care to Learn focuses on emergent needs requiring an immediate response. Fundraisers provide resources to address needs in health, hygiene, school supplies and nutrition.

Prompt action, Berry explained, enables support to occur as soon as the need is brought to the staff’s attention. That allows the student to learn in a situation where learning is the child’s primary focus.
