Sharing stories of Monett sports heroics, retired Monett Times sports editor Charles Brady spoke on Oct. 16 at the monthly meeting of the Monett Historical Society. Brady, at right, recounted how he and his father, Dick Brady, covered 577 consecutive football games, from 1954 to 1979 for Dick and 1980 to 2010 for Charles. Brady talked about some of Monettís greatest players and memorable moments for him, including a collision with a Seneca football player on the field late in Bradyís career that left a knot on the reporterís head. Brady recalled he was nonetheless proud that he stayed on his feet, while the player went down. Murray Bishoff/times-news@monett-times.com
