Celebrate Barry County Century Farm Family

Saturday, September 1, 2018

Maintaining a farming operation in the family for one century or more is cause for a congratulatory celebration.

Jared and Mendi Wormington, of Monett, have achieved this accomplishment as the fourth generation to operate their family farm.

The 154-acre farm eligible for Century status currently houses beef cattle, row crops and broiler houses. Jaredís great-grandfather, Bert Wormington, started the farm in 1918 with beef cattle and horses.

The community is encouraged to join the University of Missouri-Extension of Barry Countyís Century Farm Celebration potluck picnic on Thursday at 6 p.m. to honor the Wormington family.

The picnic will take place at Rocky Edmondson Park, located at 725 Wildwood Drive in Cassville.

All are welcome to attend. People may RSVP for the celebration by calling the MU Extension office of Barry County at 417-847-3161.
