Two people were injured Thursday in a wreck at 9:23 p.m. on Highway 39, three miles north of Aurora, where both vehicles caught fire.

Gold suffered minor injuries and was transported by private vehicle to Mercy Hospital in Aurora. Springer suffered moderate injuries and was flown to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

Both vehicles caught fire following the collision, leading both vehicles to be totaled. Gold said the collision knocked him off the tractor, and a passerby pulled over after the wreck and pulled Springer out of his vehicle as the fire began.

Springer was wearing a safety device, and Gold was exempt from wearing one.

Gold was transporting hay at the time of the collision, and he asked people be more cautious this time of year.

“People need to watch the road and be careful,” he said. “It’s hay season, and there are a lot of tractors on the road at this time.
