Monett Lions serve big crowd at annual steak dinner

Entertainment for the Lions steak dinner was provided by the Monett High School Jazz Band, under the direction of Philip Soule, center right. Lions President Tom Wormington is at front left.

After the last steak had been served, Monett Lions branded their annual Steak Dinner fundraiser as a success. Event Chairpersons, Tom and Barb Carroll, and club President Tom Wormington agreed that the turnout of local citizens was the best in recent years. Lions, from front to rear, Linda Bartelsmeyer, Julie Waetke-Bishoff and Jackie Langley served up the steak dinners for the waiting crowd at Scott Tech. Proceeds go to community and worldwide projects including Lions vision and sight endeavors, Diabetes Awareness and Care, Senior scholarships, Monett Elementary School reading program, Barry County Youth Camp, Comfort Critters for Cox Monett, Community Kitchen, Monett Food Pantry and the purchase of a child-friendly water fountain for the new Monett aquatic center.
