Caldwell finalist for Truman scholarship at U of A

Skylar Caldwell, a junior at the University of Arkansas and son of former Monettan Melinda Caldwell, grandson of Kenneth C. Caldwell of Monett, was a finalist for the 2018 Harry S Truman Scholarship. Caldwell is an honors international studies and political science major in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.

Caldwell was in the final four out of 756 applicants from 313 institutions. He plans to pursue a master's degree in public policy and return to his home state to help shape policy initiatives that foster economic development in the Arkansas Ozarks and the Arkansas Delta.

Grenden Goodman to graduate at Kickapoo

Brenden Garrett Goodman, grandson of Rick and Martha Himebaugh of Monett and son of Amy Newton of Springfield, graduated from Kickapoo High School in Springfield on May 11. He graduates with honors in the A+ program and membership in the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Physics and Key Clubs. He plans to attend the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla and pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
