Hospice Compassus seeking non-medical volunteers
Training slated for April 25 in Monett
Hospice Compassus will be conducting training for persons interested in becoming non-medical volunteers. The training will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the Hospice Compassus office located at 845 Hwy. 60, Suite A, in Monett.
Volunteers are needed to fulfill a wide variety of patient needs other than patient and family care support. Occasionally, a patient need necessitates soliciting a volunteer with a special skill or background. Examples include veterans, dentists, handymen, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, exterminators, barbers, hair stylists, massage, art, and music therapists, entertainers, shoppers to run errands, and restaurants or cooks to provide an occasional meal for a patientís family the day the patient arrives home from the hospital.
For the volunteer who feels their talent and skill could best be utilized performing administrative duties, Hospice Compassus utilizes volunteers to assist with office tasks and as community educators. They are also recruiting volunteers and community partners to be a part of their Dream Team, which transforms the unfulfilled dreams of their patients into realities.
Upon completing the non-medical volunteer training, participants will have the option of acquiring additional education necessary for the volunteer chaplaincy program, ANGELS (Alliance of Neighbors Giving End of Life Support) program, or both.
