DECA student promotes suicide awareness program

Friday, March 30, 2018
Cerrina Ridenour, a Pierce City High School student in the Distributive Education Clubs of America organization through Scott Regional Technology Center in Monett, presented information on a suicide awareness campaign to members of the Pierce City School Board at their March meeting. The presentation was researched and designed by Ridenour and her DECA partner from Cassville. The target audience was middle school and high school students, encouraging them to “Be the One” to seek out and try to assist their peers in depression or those contemplating suicide. The presentation qualified for DECA’s international competition, to take place April 21-14 in Atlanta. The duo is fundraising to meet the anticipated expenses the trip will incur.
