Friday, March 23, 2018
World Down Syndrome Day, March 21, was marked at the Monett Christian Academy preschool at the Church of the Nazarene in Monett through a special assembly where pupils became better acquainted with Kenlee Moreland, 2, who comes to the school daily with her mother, Lauren Moreland, holding her. Kenlee’s teacher is Kristen Daughrity, seated at left. Kayleen Daughrity, center, director of the school, wore mismatched socks to explain how Kenlee has three of the 21st chromosome. Her teacher explained that at times Kenlee communicates better with sign language, which was shared with the other students. However, her teacher stressed Kenlee was not much different from the others, adding, “We all love her.”. Murray Bishoff/times-news@monett-times.com
