Students share time in what is hoped to be regular event

St. Mary’s Catholic School in Pierce City held a “Snackin with Seniors” Wednesday morning as a part of their faith outreach program for the community.

The entire school, kindergarten through eighth grade, performed a couple of songs. The seventh and eight grade classes served donuts, mixed fruits and granola with coffee or juice. Those not serving acted as waiters and waitresses cleaning up and refilling coffee or juice.

Students also visited with the guests making everyone feel welcome with a sense of camaraderie and fellowship among all who attended.

Seventh and eighth grade teacher Susan Salsman led the faculty in developing the effort to teach the students about fulfilling the mission of Christ to serve others. This was the first school year for this event, with the first one held in the fall and now the spring one.

The event is open to the entire senior community in the Pierce City and surrounding areas.
