Artists, students express talents in Pride of Pierce City contest

Winning entries in Draw Pierce City 2018 contest will be on display at an artist's reception slated for 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 20 at the Pierce City Branch of the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library.

This year's theme, the Pride of Pierce City, saw Bryce Garner taking top honors in the adult category.

Student winners included: Mariah Halstenberg, Pierce City High School, in the ninth through 12th grade category; Landon Flynn in the sixth to eighth grade category; Layton Mack, of St. Mary's Catholic School, in the fourth and fifth grade category; and Holden Garner in the second and third grade category.

Grade level winners are as follows:

Seniors: Mariah Halstenberg, first place; Ty Roethemeier, second place; and Aliyah Raley, third place.

Juniors: Marie Leavitt, first place; Jessica Spencer, second place; Kendyl Hayward, third place; and Baleigh Eaton, honorable mention.

Sophomores: Hannah Bennett, first place; Melody Anderson, second place; and Luke Waylon Pierce, third place.

There were no freshman entries.

Eighth grade: Landon Flynn, first place; Jocelyn Fischer, second place; Levi Cooper of St. Maryís, third place.

Seventh grade: Kristine Haase, first place; Claudia Crowell of St. Maryís, second place; and Sierra Leavitt , third place.

Sixth grade: Jayden Talbert, first place; Jasmin Garrett, second place; and Shaye Prater, third place.

Fifth grade: Layton Mack, first place; Gregory Brown, second place; and Ayla Renkoski, third place.

Fourth grade: Addison Avondet, St. Mary's, first place; Jack Parrigon, second place; Liliana Lasker, third place.

Third grade: Cruz Torrez, St. Mary's, first place; Molly Leavitt, second place; and Kate Beard, St. Mary's, third place.

Second grade: Holden Garner, first place; Katy Leavitt, second place; and Baleigh Mast, third place.

The Librarianís Choice for each of the four participating schools will be announced prior to the March 20 reception.

Winning entries and all adult entries will be on display during regular business hours at the Pierce City Branch Library between Wednesday, March 21 and Friday, April 20, and between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at the 10th annual Pierce City Arts Festival, taking place at Jolly Mill Park.

The annual Draw Pierce City contest is sponsors by the Pierce City Arts Council. This year's judge was Jeffery Jones.
