7 earn 1 ratings at district competition

Twenty Monett High School band students qualified in solo and ensemble auditions for state competition next month in Columbia.

Band director Philip Soule announced successful auditioners will travel to the University of Missouri in Columbia next month for the state solo contest.

Earning 1 ratings were: Emily Shaw, B flat clarinet; Brian Agans, trumpet; Bailey Preston, flute; Brooke Lemaster, flute; Jesus Rodriguez, tuba; Kate McCullough, flute; Jared Canales, alto sax.

Earning a 2 rating at district were: Benji Lesué, bariitone saxphone; Melanie Cruz, B flat clarinet; Jacob King, baritone; Jewelia Willoughby, B flat clarinet; Adrian Vargas, trumpet; Cecilia Hoffman, trumpet; Axel Agans, trumpet; Autumn Portillo, B flat clarinet; Blake Pachner, tuba; Kelsey Hood, flute; and the Percussion Trio of Cheyene Cook, Garrett Gunter and Brittain Cooper.
