St. Mary’s Nat Geo Bee winner advances

Claudia Crowell, left, a seventh grade student at St, Maty’s Catholic School in Pierce City is the winner of the school level National Geography Bee, which took place on Jan. 10. Claudia now has the opportunity to advance to state competition, and if she wins there, to national competition in Washington, D.C., in May, and the chance to win a $50,000 college scholarship. This is the 30th anniversary of the Nat Geo Bee. Second place winner was Hailey Gripka, center, and third place winner was Atley Kleinman, right. Others in the top ten included Levi Cooper, Pete Masri, Andrew Loyd, Karleigh Reber, Savanna Hazelwood, Kella Loyd and Marina Masri. The school level event was coordinated by Judy Younker.
