Monett split duals with Cassville, Neosho

A little bit of brutal honesty from Daryl Bradley, Monett wrestling coach, summed up his thoughts after a split of a dual with Cassville and Neosho on Thursday night.

The Cubs topped rival Cassville, 42-30, before falling 58-13 to perennial state champion Neosho.

“We had some forfeits that made the scores look closer and more lopsided than they were,” Bradley said. “The fact is, we had the opportunity to get some major decisions against Cassville and didn’t get it done. Giving up 30 points to a second-year program is something that we shouldn’t do. Cassville is well-coached and getting better, but I felt we left points on the mat.”

Against Neosho, Bradley said they are just tough up and down the lineup.

“We’re banged up a bit right now, but that is no excuse,” Bradley said. “I hope some guys are realizing that they are going to have to elevate their level of competition for us to hit our team goals.”
