Cubs head to Seneca Thursday

Monett opens season with 75-68 road win

The basketball season got off to a late start for the Cubs this season.

Monett (1-0) opened the season on Monday with a 75-68 win over El Dorado Springs.

The Cubs had four players finish in double figures: Jackson Spencer, 19; Clayton Kaiser, 16; Gavin Carr, 14; and Alim Miftari, 12.

Monett opted out of the Carthage Tournament and entered the six-team Seneca Tournament instead.

On Thursday at 6 p.m. Monett plays Diamond, followed by Seneca and Miami (Okla.).

The Cubs open Friday’s slate with a 6 p.m. battle with the Wardogs, and the evening concludes with Diamond facing Seneca.

Saturday’s schedule begins at 3 p.m. with Miami and Diamond, and it concludes with a 4:30 p.m. battle between Monett and Seneca.
