Oak Pointe Assisted Living and Memory Care in Monett will host an open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14, at the facility, located at 1011 Old Airport Road. Guests are invited to view the Christmas decorations, donated from the private collection of resident Ruby Reese. In addition, there will be a hot cocoa bar, Wassail punch and treats.

The First Baptist Church of Pierce City, located on Highway 97 north of town, will host a Christmas dinner at approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, following the Christmas parade downtown. The meal will be free and open to the community.

The Purdy Preschool Christmas Program will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the Purdy School Cafeteria. Admission to the program is free.

The Monett Toastmasters meet at noon Dec. 6, at the Monett Chamber of Commerce, 200 E. Broadway.

The American Job Center, 100 S. Maple in Monett, will offer a free workshops in December. A “Skills to pay the bills” workshop is offered from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 6. A computer skills workshop is offered from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 8. Pre-registration is needed by calling 235-7877.

The Senior Life Solutions program offered through Mercy Hospital in Cassville will hold its next networking group meeting at 11 a.m. on Dec. 7 at the Cassville Hospital, 90 Gravel St., in Conference Room A. Lunch will be provided. Service program representatives are urged to attend.

The Aurora Chamber of Commerce will host #Present Run 5K and 1 mile walk at 7 p.m. on Dec. 8. Details are available by calling 417-678-4150.

The 33rd annual Thornton Christmas Dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, Dec. 25, at United methodist Church, 1600 N. Central Ave. To have a meal delivered, call 417-489-2614.

The Linn Thornton Toy Drive is underway. Toys may be dropped off at any of the four ASI locations until Wednesday, Dec. 20. The Monett Veterinary Hospital is hosting its 18th annual Toy Drive through Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 215 Dairy St. in Monett. The new toys will be distributed to children in need by members of the Barry County OACAC in time for the Christmas holiday. For more information, call 417-235-5616.
