Vintage police car on display at Monett Museum

Saturday, October 28, 2017
The Monett Museum now has the 1952 restored police car on display on the mezzanine above the Events Center at 418 E. Broadway. The car was restored and donated to the city in 2007 by J.R.ís Pre-Owned Vehicles of Monett. The design is modeled after the cityís first two-tone police car, a 1955 Chevrolet two-door bought from Mix Davis Chevrolet. Museum volunteers Skip Smith and Doug Hobson, right, looked for features familiar to them in cars from their youth. The car will still appear in events such as the Monett Christmas parade, but it will live in the museum on display at the rear of the Events Center. Murray Bishoff/times-news@monett-times.com
