Arkansas man dies in Hwy. 39 wreck

Man on motorcycle hit by vehicle south of Aurora

An Arkansas man died on Monday after his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle at 3:20 p.m. on Highway 39 and Highway Z, four miles south of Aurora.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Nicholas Woods, 25, of Aurora, was driving a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass northbound when his vehicle failed to yield to oncoming traffic and struck a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle, being driven by Rodney Campbell, 54, of Berryville, Ark. The impact caused Campbell to be ejected from the vehicle.

Campbell was transported to Mercy Hospital in Aurora. He was pronounced dead by Dr. Kenneth Stangler at 4:20 p.m. Woods was not injured.

Woods was wearing a safety device, and Campbell was not. Both vehicles were totaled.

This is the 78th fatal wreck of the year for Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry and Lawrence.
