Glenn Obermann defends title with best hay in Missouri
Defends title at Missouri State Fair, winning six of last eight years
Glenn Obermann of rural Monett has successfully defended his title as champion hay producer for the state of Missouri.
In the hay contest at the Missouri State Fair, Obermann claimed first place in the Class 3 alfalfa competition, third and fourth cutting, taking top honors for all the entries. He had the no. 1 ranking for grass in Class 5. This was Obermann's sixth win in the last eight years.
Other local producers placing high in the competition were
Jared Kleiboeker of Wentworth, taking first in balage and legumes for Class 9. Steve Kleiboeker, also of Wentworth, claimed second place honors.
Jack Russell, from the LaRussell portion of Lawrence County, took first place in warm season grasses, the Class 7 division. Karl Wilke of Mt. Vernon took first place honors for balage and grasses for Class 10.
Southwest Missouri placed well in other areas. Others who placed in contests came from Billings, Reeds, Crane and Clever.
