Gospel trio to perform at First Presbyterian Church
Steve Hess and Southern Salvation to sing
Steve Hess and Southern Salvation will offer a free concert of gospel music at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27, at the First Presbyterian Church, 700 Sycamore in Monett.
There is no admission fee for concert in the church sanctuary. A free will offering will be taken.
The trio has roots in Southern Gospel music. Hess is nephew of Gospel Hall of Fame member Jake Hess. In addition to Hess on baritone and piano, the group includes lead singer Jake Arview and tenor John McCall. The trip has had several hits in the Top 80 Southern Gospel rankings and has received the Volunteerism Award from the U.S. President for work with storm victims.
"Steve Hess and Southern Salvation are a favorite of many in the Monett area," said Karen Nevin, coordinator for the event, noting this is the group's fourth appearance in Monett. "We have scheduled their performance for Sunday evening so that more people will be able to enjoy their music and their message."
Nevin stressed people of all ages are invited to attend.
"This gospel music event will be energetic, fun and spirit-filled," she added.
