Clergy join Kiwanians for weekly meeting

For its weekly meeting on July 11, the Monett Kiwanis Club invited several members of the local clergy as guests, including Brian Smith, the new pastor at the First United Methodist Church in Monett, and his family. Smith was the guest speaker, and described experiences he and his wife, Annie, had while teaching English for three years in China. The Smiths and their children, Simon and Junia, seated, were joined by, from left, Andrew Kennell, the new pastor at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Monett; Chris Slocum, the youth minister at the Monett Community Church, which presently has no official pastor; Paula Lively, pastor at St. Stephenís Episcopal Church; and Bill Cox, pastor at First Baptist Church. Cathy Lewis, who is on the chaplaincy staff with both Cox Monett Hospital and the Compassus hospice program, extended the invitations as monthly program chairman for the Kiwanians.
