The Liberty Cemetery Association will meet at 2 p.m. on May 21 in the fellowship hall of the Liberty United Methodist Church, at Farm Roads 2210 and 1090, north of Monett.

The Monett Chamber of Commerce’s planned Eggs and Issues breakfast with area lawmakers has been rescheduled for 8 a.m. on May 26 at the Monett Museum at Fifth and Broadway.

The Barry-Lawrence Ambulance District board meeting will be held 6:30 p.m. on May 23 at the district office, 307 Dairy St. in Monett.

May 20 will be Kids Fishing Day at Roaring River State Park, from 6:30 a.m. to 8:15 p.m. Specific fishing areas will be designated for children age 15 and under. Fishing instruction will be available. There will be no charge for fishing tags. Seminars and fishing instruction will be offered. Tags may be picked up at the hatchery office.

Monett MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) will hold a meet-and-greet from 9 a.m. to noon today, May 20 at the First Presbyterian Church, 700 Sycamore in Monett. Mothers of newborns through those about to enter kindergarten are welcome. Cookies, punch, crafts and door prizes will be available.

The SilverTeens seniors singles group will meet at 6 p.m. for supper on May 25 at the Blackbird Bar and Grill, 1321 S. Elliott in Aurora. For additional information, people may call B.J. McCaulley at 417-393-9212.

Lawrence County Democrats will meet at 7 p.m. on May 25 at the Mt. Vernon Library Branch, 206 W. Water St. Aaron Strahl, organizer with Missouri Jobs with Justice, will speak about ballot initiatives for 2018, including limiting gifts from lobbyists, redistricting, and p minimum wage proposals. Susan Sparks, with the Polk County Genealogical Society, will be the guest speaker for the Lawrence County Historical Society meeting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 21 at the Jones memorial Chapel, 11110 Farm Road 1137, next to the Mt. Vernon golf course.

The Monett Artists’ Guild will have auditions for its summer comedy, “Dearly Beloved,” from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on May 22 and 23. Parts are available for both men and women. Auditions will be held at the Monett High School Performing Arts Center.

The annual Veteran’s Memorial Park Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 27 at Mapel Park Cemetery in Aurora. A wreath laying ceremony will be conducted by Aurora American Legion Post No. 126 and Viet Vet of Barry County Chapter No. 1023. State Representative Mike Moon will speak. The public is encouraged to attend.

The 34th annual NSRA Mid-America Street Rod Nationals will be held May 26-28 at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield. More than 2,200 pre-1988 specialty vehicles will be on display.

Donations of clothing are sought for the Barry County Youth Camp, which will run May 30-June 2 for children ages 7 to 10 who would not otherwise be able to afford a camping experience. Donations of appropriate clothing for boys and girls ages 7 to 10 are again being accepted. These include swimsuits, especially for boys, lightweight blankets of the thermal type. Donations may be dropped off at Bremer/Willis Machine at Seventh and Broadway or contacting the chairperson Jane James at 235-3580.

The Monett Farmers Market will be open today from 8 a.m. to noon at South Park, next to the tennis courts.

Next week at the Monett Branch Library, Sixth and Bond, a knitting and crochet class is offered at 1 p.m. on May 23.

The Harold Bell Wright Pierce City Museum, 404 N. Walnut in Pierce City, will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today with new displays honoring the birthday of Harold Bell Wright.

The Monett Municipal Swimming Pool will open for the season from 1 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 27. The pool will generally be open from 1 to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays
