Monett students fare well in Big 8 Art show
19 place, six win honorable mention in judging
Nineteen Monett High School art students placed at the Big 8 Art Awards, with competition held this year in Cassville.
Taking first place and winning gold medals were Jacob Lopez in additive metal sculpture and Ashley Batson in color portrait acrylic. Her portrait is presently handing in the MHS office.
Claiming second place honors were Oscar Delgado in pastel non-representational, Alondra Montelongo in collage low relief and Randi Prock for live draw, still life in charcoal. Donte Woods took third place for a color portrait in acrylic.
Fourth place honors were earned by Wendy Cabrera for a watercolor representational painting, and Jazmine Seay for a monoprint. In fifth place were Cameron Cody for a monoprint, Taya Ellis for a wheel formed ceramic, Logan Mills for an additive metal sculpture, and Noel Villasenor for an airbrush creation.
Sixth grade finishers were Sara Drewianka with a watercolor representational painting, Jared Furry with an airbrush painting, Jacqueline Gonzalez for relief printmaking, Austin Misener for a monoprint, Alondra Montelongo for a collage low relief, Brianna Murphy for a acrylic representational painting, and Sydney Williams for digital basic editing.
Honorable mention recognition were to Kevin Agustin for airbrush work, Susana Contreras for relief printmaking, Jacqueline Gonzalez for a clay sculpture, Magali Sandoval for a hand-formed clay creation, Jazmine Seay for a monoprint, and Yasmin Seranno for a live art still life.
