Ladies Aid prepares for Spring Rally in Neosho

Members donate funds to Goodman tornado victims

The Dorcas Ladies Aid of Trinity Lutheran Church, Freistatt held its April meeting in the Fellowship Hall of the school. Doris Meyer, president, called the meeting to order, welcoming 14 members.

The worship, “Spring Cleaning,” was given by Nadine Obermann. It stressed that the only thing needed to clean up our Spiritual House is the word of God. Members sang “Create in Me a Clean Heart.”

Karen Kleiboeker presented the program, “The Wondrous Cross”, an in-depth study of Christ’s dying on the cross for us. Karen displayed a number of crosses that she has collected. Members read Bible verses, along with verses to the hymn, “In the Cross of Christ I Glory”.

Cheryl showed the members the baptismal booklet that the Ladies Aid has purchased for newly baptized children.

Judy Krueger reported making a baptismal napkin for Casten Lee Moennig.

Colleen Pugh provided the baptismal report. The booklet, "The Baptism of Your Child," was given to Stephanie Moennig and Devin Smith, parents of Casten Lee Moennig, who was baptized March 26.

Lena Bremer reported for the mission committee having applied for, and receiving, a Thrivent Team Action card. It has been used to purchase baby items.

Kleiboeker delivered $55.00 cash and about $500.00 in items to LFCS in Springfield on March 22. The donations were very much appreciated and she thanked everyone for their generosity.

Work day was held March 27, with Edith Harmon, Cheryl Brown, Darlene Lampe, Evelyn Bracht, Dorothy Osterloh, Marge Harris, Karen Kleiboeker, Nadine Obermann, Judy Krueger, Barbara Steinberg and Thelma Barnes attending. Five large and five mid-size quilts were assembled and tacked. Judy took a large quilt to an individual who had experienced a home fire.

Osterloh announced members celebrating April birthdays and members sang the birthday for Ethel Helmkamp, Jeanne Stoltz and Marge Harris.

Doris announced the new quarterlies had been put in the boxes.

Betty Sawyer said she has collected 1,400 Best Choice UPC codes and has set a goal of 2000. She has requested others to save labels for the effort as well.

Cheryl Brown took photos at the children’s program during the March meeting to be entered into the scrap book.

Members signed greeting cards for the nursing home patients and shut-ins.

In new business, Kleiboeker suggested sending the Hunger Offering to the Goodman tornado victims. Members approved the motion.

members plan to discuss plans for a Bake Sale at the May meeting.

Meyer reminded members of the upcoming Spring Rally, set for Sunday, April 30 at First Lutheran Church in Neosho. Freistatt has the table prayer. Those planning to attend include are Karen Kleiboeker, Nadine Obermann, Betty Sawyer, Dorothy Osterloh, Edith Harmon, Doris Meyer and Becky Morgan.
