Hannah Reid wins honors with Harry Potter essay
Purdy student wins $100 from National English Honor Society
Purdy High School sophomore Hannah Reid received the National English Honor Society (NEHS) Intellectual Freedom Award for her essay, “The London Witch Trials of Harry Potter.”
The essay was one of 12 winning entries, earning a cash prize of $100 for Reid, along with an additional $50 for the Purdy NEHS Chapter. Reid’s essay will be forwarded to the National Council of Teachers of English, where she will contend for one of six winning spots to receive an additional cash prize of $150, along with another $50 for the Purdy NEHS Chapter.
The Purdy National English Honor Society is sponsored by Purdy faculty members Kayla Branstetter and Michelle Hilburn.
